Opinion on controversial topics

People should not be able to obtain a better education or better medical care for their families by paying for them

It is common knowledge that nowadays everything can be obtained with money. People tend to believe that as long as they have money, they can do whatever they want. We live in a consumer society where everything can and should be purchased. However can education and health also be "consumed" like anything else? The main issue at hand here is to know whether people should be able to obtain a better education or better medical care for their families by paying for them or not.

First of all, education and health are rights that everybody should have under any circumstances. It doesn't really seem fair that people who have more money pay to get their children a better education and better medical care for their families. Think about these questions: should a child whose parents are rich have better chances than others? And should rich people be treated better when they are sick? The obvious answer seems to be that human beings should be treated equally and have all the same opportunities.
However, education and medical care have to be differentiated. While medical care is a service that requires paying for it, education can't be purchased. With money, you can have more treatments, better medical equipment, you can even pay people to take care of you at home for example. But with education, it is not the same thing because you cannot pay more and be guaranted that your child will be more intelligent than others. You can't pay the teachers to favour your children or that is called corruption! What you can pay for is a better school for your child to go to but here again and as far as I am concerned all the teachers, in whichever school they teach, do their job the same way.

To conclude, my opinion is that everybody should get the basic medical care required for their good health but afterwards you can obviously pay more if you want more and better services. Nevertheless, education cannot be "better" if you pay for it, it is not a matter of money and should never be, otherwise children will start to think that with money you have more rights than others and that you are worth more. And that is absolutely unacceptable!
